THE SECRETS

9:15 PM, Dryden Theatre

Avi Nesher, 2007, 120 min., Israel, Hebrew with English subtitles

THE SECRETS is a film filled with passion, love and faith, in which two brilliant young women discover their own voices within the Orthodox Jewish society. Their faith is tested when they enter a religious seminary for women in Sfad where they encounter the modern world and some of its temptations. The film is beautifully shot and wonderfully cast. Its superb cast includes the veteran French actress Fanny Ardant.

THE SECRETS' director, Avi Nesher, is considered one of Israel's most influential filmmakers. He wrote and directed one of Israel's biggest hits, TURN LEFT AT THE END OF THE WORLD, which screened to sold-out audiences throughout Israel, and at rjff 2005.
